Stapleford Miniature Railway

First opened in 1958 as a commercial venture around the estate of Stapleford Park stately home by Lord Gretton, the railway closed when the house became  a hotel in the 80’s but was restored in the 90’s by the supporting  friends group, FSMR. reopening in 1995, the railway now operates for the public on two events per year supporting LOROS the areas hospice. With a fleet of five 1/5th scale British and North American steam locos and a 1/4 scale metre gauge replica EAR 31 class oil fired loco. The line features heavy engineering including river crossings and a replica of Box and Primrose hill tunnels. The railway also featured in an episode of the 60s cult Avengers TV series
